Morog Polao

Morog polao is a Bangladeshi dish of aromatic rice served with chicken. Nusrat Jahan Labonnayo’s report on Jhunu Polao Ghor in Narinda, Old Dhaka, describes a version made with short-grained chinigura rice, local chicken and mild spicing. Her plate also includes an egg.[1]

The report traces the shop to Nur Muhammad, who opened it in 1970 and named it after his daughter Jhunu. Muhammad Fojor Ali later became its long-serving cook. Labonnayo describes the dish as part of her own childhood memories of Old Dhaka, and records its place in local meals for guests and iftar.[1]
