Cannelé

Canelé is a Bordeaux pastry with a caramelized exterior and a soft center flavored with rum and vanilla. Its batter contains milk, eggs, flour, butter and sugar. The batter is rested before being poured into molds and baked until the surface caramelizes.[1][2]

The pastries are made in different sizes. Copper molds are used, though aluminum and silicone molds can also be used. Canelés are eaten with coffee, at breakfast, as an afternoon snack or as dessert.[1][2]
