Champorado
Philippines · Southeast Asia

Champorado is a sweet Filipino rice porridge flavored with chocolate. Glutinous rice cooks in water until the grains begin to expand, then tablea, disks of ground cacao, are stirred in to melt. Sugar is added and the porridge cooks until thick.[1]
Evaporated milk is drizzled over the bowls. Champorado can be eaten hot or cold for breakfast or a snack, with dried salted fish called tuyo or bread alongside. Unsweetened cocoa powder or dark chocolate can replace tablea.[1]
