plăcinte cu brânză
Moldova · Europe

Plăcinte cu brânză are pastries filled with cheese. Moldova Travel places cheese-filled plăcinte among the savoury varieties served at celebrations. It describes both baked and fried preparations, with different doughs and shapes. Gicuța’s pan-fried home version uses a risen dough of wheat flour, water, yeast, sugar, salt and oil.[1][2]
Her filling combines well-drained cow’s-milk telemea with egg. Each round of dough encloses a spoonful, with the edges gathered and pinched together. The sealed parcel is turned over and flattened again, then fried on both sides in a shallow layer of oil. The cooked pastries drain on paper towels and are stacked so that they soften before being served warm.[2]
