Jeju Black Pork Barbecue

Jeju black-pork barbecue uses meat from the island’s black pigs, grilled and eaten with dipping sauces and side dishes. The local breed has a black coat. Jeju’s tourism organization describes grilling the meat over a fire and dipping it in meljeot, a salted, fermented anchovy sauce. Black Pork Street in old Jeju City is associated with restaurants serving this food.[1]

At Heukdonhyang in Seogwipo, the tourism organization describes pre-grilled pork neck served with meljeot, the anchovy dipping sauce. Kimchi stew is offered as an accompaniment.[2]
