Pa amb tomàquet

Pa amb tomàquet is bread with tomato, a familiar preparation in Catalan cooking. Bread is sliced and rubbed with the cut surface of a tomato, then dressed with oil and salt. The bread can be toasted first. It is eaten soon after dressing so that the tomato does not soften it excessively.[1]

The dressed bread can accompany ham, cured sausages, cheese, omelets or anchovies. These accompaniments can be served alongside either toasted or untoasted bread.[1]
