Kanelbullar are Swedish cinnamon buns made with a yeast-raised wheat dough and a filling of butter, sugar and cinnamon. They can be rolled into spirals or twisted into knots. Sweden celebrates Cinnamon Bun Day on 4 October.[1]

Lisa Lemke’s recipe begins with a starter of fresh yeast, whole milk, sugar and wheat flour. More milk, flour and sugar are added with butter, egg, salt and ground cardamom. The dough is spread with the cinnamon filling, folded and cut into strips for twisting, or rolled into a spiral. After rising, the buns are brushed with egg and topped with pearl sugar or cardamom sugar before baking.[1]
