Shaved ice with mango

Mango shaved ice is a Taiwanese dessert of finely shaved ice topped with fresh mango and condensed milk. The fruit is cut shortly before serving and placed over the ice, then drizzled with the milk. Taiwan’s tourism account associates it with the summer mango harvest, contrasting the fresh fruit with the fine ice underneath.^[1]

Some shops incorporate mango into the frozen components as well as the topping. The tourism administration’s account of Youjian in Tainan’s Yujing district records house-made mango ice cream and blocks of ice made from mango juice. The shop introduced its mango desserts in 2004.^[2]
