Virginia ham biscuit
United States · North America

A Virginia ham biscuit is a small biscuit split and filled with thin slices of Virginia ham. Mount Vernon’s modern recipe makes the biscuits with flour, baking powder, salt, cold lard and milk. The dough is rolled or patted out and cut into small rounds.[1]
Milk brushed over the tops precedes baking until the biscuits rise and turn golden. Once cooled, they are split, optionally buttered and filled with two thin slices of ham, then served as small appetizers.[1]
